5/24: Global Seismic + Volcanic Update

Over the past 48–72 hours, we’ve seen a noticeable shift in how the Earth system is behaving. This isn’t about one earthquake or one volcano—it’s about multiple systems moving together at the same time.
Here’s what we’re currently seeing:
A M6.0 earthquake in Hawaii followed by continued aftershocks
Aleutians/Alaska increasing into M5+ activity
Indonesia remaining active across both seismic and volcanic systems
Continued movement through the South Pacific (Fiji, Vanuatu, Kermadec)
Activation along the Southeast Indian Ridge
Persistent movement in the Caribbean (Puerto Rico / DR)
At the same time, we’re seeing changes in the upper atmosphere:
Ionosphere (foF2) becoming more structured and compressed
TEC (Total Electron Content) becoming fragmented instead of smooth
VLF/ELF data showing a strong electromagnetic spike across multiple stations
A recent magnetometer arcjet transition phase
What matters here is not any single dataset—it’s that all of these systems are shifting together.
Volcanic Activity Layer
We’re also seeing elevated volcanic activity in the same regions:
Hawaii (Kīlauea) remains in an active eruptive cycle
Indonesia is currently the most active volcanic region globally (multiple volcanoes erupting or unrest)
South Pacific arc systems remain dynamically active
Etna and parts of the Mediterranean showing intermittent activity
This overlap between seismic + volcanic + atmospheric signals is what we watch closely.
What This Means (Plain and Simple)
Right now, the Earth does not look like it’s in a calm release phase.
It looks like:
A broad redistribution phase that is still actively evolving.
It means multiple regions are under stress at the same time energy is still moving, not settling
we need to pay attention to how this develops
72-Hour Seismic Outlook
Highest Watch Areas:
Aleutians / Alaska – likely continued M5+, possible higher if clustering increases
Indonesia (Banda / Maluku region) – M5–M6 likely, M6+ possible
South Pacific (Vanuatu–Fiji–Kermadec) – deep + moderate events likely
Elevated Watch:
Hawaii – continued aftershocks, possible additional M5+
Caribbean (PR/DR) – continued movement, watching for escalation
Lower Watch:
West Coast South America
Mediterranean region
72-Hour Volcanic Outlook
Indonesia – most active globally right now, continued eruptions/unrest expected
Hawaii (Kīlauea) – ongoing eruptive behavior, no clear sign of immediate escalation but remains active
South Pacific arc volcanoes – elevated background activity likely
Mediterranean (Etna) – intermittent activity continues
What I’m Watching Next
Does Alaska continue clustering upward?
Does Indonesia produce another larger event?
Do deep South Pacific quakes continue?
Does the ionosphere tighten further or begin to relax?
Do electromagnetic signals stay elevated or drop off?
These next 24–72 hours will tell us a lot about whether the system is escalating or starting to settle
