We had a much quieter day today across all measures!

Solar Flares calmed considerably today, we only 2 M Class Solar Flares today, one from the Sun Spot that threw repeated barrages yesterday, one from a quiet, adjacent Sun Spot also in the Sun-Earth Magnetic Line. We’ve currently got 3 Sun Spots, all capable of M+ Class Solar Flares in the Sun-Earth Magnetic Line – it’ll be about a week before we’re fully out of all three’s range.

A CME arrived last night around 8.01p CDT. It barely raised Solar Wind Density to 14.5/cm3 and it immediately began slowing Solar Wind Speed so we got consistently below 400 km/sec beginning 7.43p CDT last night, and we reached 320 km/sec @ 5.20p CDT today. NOAA updated their timeline for the Geomagnetic Storms today – a new chart with that info is attached. In short, the incoming CMEs are expected to cause persistent Geomagnetic Storms tomorrow, but we’ll get a break from them on 7/4 before the next CME arrives on 7/5, bring more Geomagnetic Storms.

Solar Wind Speed is expected to exceed 500 km/sec with tomorrow’s CME, and stay in that range for the next 3 days. The 7/5 CME isn’t supposed to significantly impact our Solar Wind Speeds.

Electron and Proton Saturation both stayed below their Alert Thresholds. The incoming CMEs should keep Electron Saturation below its Alert Threshold. Proton Saturation is largely dependent on Solar Flares do over the next few days.
