9/8 Recap

It’s been a rather jostling day with the CME+CH HSS combo causing periods of HP = 5 (G1) Geomagnetic Storms, and the CH HSS taking dominance in the Solar Winds and dumping electrons in our magnetosphere to the point where it raised Electron Saturation above its Alert Threshold. But, it looks like most of those antagonists will be over soon for at least a couple of days.
.
We had a few episodes of HP = 5 (G1) Geomagnetic Storms today, I uploaded today’s HP Index chart for those interested in details, plus provided them in the narrative below. Currently our Geomagnetics are trending strongly downward, and we’re averaging HP = 2.6. Solar Wind Speed got as high as 600 km/sec today, but is also rapidly dropping and currently near 400 km/sec. Whether or not those speeds drop into the 300 km/sec range tomorrow depends entirely on the still-expected 3 CMEs, because at least a couple forecasts are expecting those CMEs to raise Solar Wind Speed above 500 km/sec again. NOAA’s anticipating we’ll have as high as HP = 6 (G2) Geomagnetic Storms for a few more hours, until 9/9 @ 1.00a CDT, then we’re expected to have calm Geomagnetics for a few days. Usually the CH HSS arriving on 9/11 would cause Geomagnetic Storms, we’ll see what NOAA’s forecasts are on that matter tomorrow, hopefully.
.
The strength of the Equatorial CH HSS drove Electron Saturation above its Alert Threshold today. If the CMEs arrive, they should drop that measure down. If they miss Earth, we’ll likely see Electron Saturation hover around its Alert Threshold for at least 2 more days. Proton Saturation, however, is at Normal levels, and likely to stay there as long as the Sun Spots keep producing only B- to C-Class Solar Flares.
