7/4 Recap
Ok, it’s been a busy day! I put together some charts for y’all tonight, partly to make things a bit easier to understand, partly to save myself some typing! Lol

Let’s start with appeasing concerns – while NOAA is forecasting Geomagnetic Storms for the next 2 days, the one scheduled for tomorrow is supposed to be over by early morning. The Geomagnetic Storms NOAA’s anticipating for 7/6 have only a slight chance of occurring for most of us – 10% chance in middle N. America and 35% chance of HP = 6 (G2) Geomagnetic Storms in the northern U.S. states and Canada.

We had quite a few Solar Flares today, most of them from the Exiting Sun Spots. The largest Solar Flare, an X1.3 came from one of the Incoming Sun Spots, so we’ll be keeping an eye on that one as the others depart.

Solar Wind Speed stayed over 500 km/sec, and got as high as 633 km/sec @ 8.05a CDT this morning. Solar Wind Density varied quite a bit also with what looks like 2 CMEs – 1 arriving last night and taking density into the 30+ km/sec range, and a 2nd today possibly, taking Solar Wind Density as low as ~2.0/cm3 and as high as 11.1/cm3. Solar Wind Speed is supposed to stay in the 500 km/sec range tomorrow due to the incoming CMEs, but most forecasts are expecting it to drop into the 400 km/sec on 7/6.

Electron Saturation stayed in the Normal – Moderate range. Proton Saturation dropped from Moderate to Normal levels today. The incoming CMEs should keep Electron Saturation comfortable for 2 more days, but the CH HSS will likely raise it above its Alert Threshold on 7/6. While Proton Saturation dropped back down to Normal levels today, whether or not it stays is largely dependent on Solar Flares.
