8/21 Recap

So today was a day where just about everything we monitor was either at, or approached, uncomfortable levels – except our Geomagnetics, those continued to calm down!

We had a 2:40 long duration M Class Solar Flare this morning that deposited enough Protons in our atmosphere that Proton Saturation climbed into Moderate levels today. NOAA’s not anticipating Proton Saturation will climb above its Alert Threshold in the next few days, but with a 40% chance of M Class Solar Flares, I’m not sure we can rule out that potential yet, so we’ll see…

Solar Wind Speeds slowed a little bit, but stayed in the 500 km/sec range. They should drop into the 400 km/sec range tomorrow.

Electron Saturation’s hovering right around its Alert Threshold. I suspect it’ll do that for 3-4 more days as the Coronal Holes move away from Earth, finally taking their CH HSSs with them!
