5/16: Another powerful solar eruption

The Sun just unleashed another powerful eruption — and Earth may be in the firing line.
An M1.3 solar flare exploded from Active Region 4436 near the Sun’s central meridian, triggering what appears to be a coronal mass ejection (CME) racing through space. Early observations also detected significant coronal dimming, often a sign that huge amounts of solar plasma have been blasted away from the Sun.
🌍 If the CME is Earth-directed, impacts could include:
✨ Strong aurora displays
📡 Minor disruptions to radio communications
🛰 Increased geomagnetic activity around the planet
Space weather scientists are now closely tracking the eruption to determine whether the solar storm will directly impact Earth in the coming days.
The Sun is awake — and space weather season is heating up.
