CME arrived

Space weather charts indicate a CME arrived around 6/13 at about 4.00a CDT, but it looks like it’s a weak one.

It did take Solar Wind Speeds up to ~600 km/sec and the HP Index responded by going from HP = 3.0 to HP = 4.0. But, we dropped back down to HP = 3.0 @ 8.00a CDT, and Electron Saturation crossed its Alert Threshold at 7.40a CDT – both these indicate the CME isn’t doing much to our magnetosphere.

Normally Geomagnetic Storms occur with 2-4 hours of a CME’s arrival, so we may *not* have a Geomagnetic Storm from this CME. The 2nd CME is due around 11.00a CDT, so we’ll see what that one does.

Around 953 UT, we likely saw the arrival of our C6.7 filament-driven CME. It is wimpy with Bt < 10 nT, but speeds *did* jump up to > 600 km/s. I would be surprised if we saw more than G1 conditions from this storm, but we shall see. Timing is bad for North American chasers.
