Three Major Flares in One Day!
THE SUN JUST SHOCKED SCIENTISTS THREE MAJOR FLARES IN ONE DAY!
Most forecasts suggested this solar region wasn’t a major threat. Then, within just a few hours, the Sun unleashed an M9.3 flare, an M7.7 flare, and finally an X1.0 flare an incredibly rare burst of activity.
Even more surprising, two powerful Coronal Mass Ejections (CMEs) are now heading toward Earth. Space weather experts say these solar storms could reach our planet soon, potentially increasing aurora activity and causing minor impacts to radio communications.
What makes this event so remarkable? The active region responsible, AR4455, was considered relatively simple and low-risk. Yet it produced some of the strongest solar activity seen this month, completely exceeding expectations.
Earlier today, the X1.0 flare triggered a strong radio blackout across the sunlit side of Earth, affecting high-frequency communications for about an hour.
Question for you: If these incoming solar storms produce bright auroras, would you travel to see them in person? Or do you think the Sun is becoming more active than expected this year?
