8/15 recap

It’s been a quiet couple of days in space weather. While the CH HSS did arrive yesterday, it didn’t raise Solar Wind Speeds into the 400 km/sec range and didn’t raise the HP Index above HP = 3.3. Tomorrow’s expected to be similarly quiet, and while we do have a CME expected morning CDT on 8/17, and it’s expected to take us into the 400 km/sec range in Solar Wind Speed, there’s very little chance it’ll do much to change any of the space weather features we follow. We do have 2 new Coronal Holes headed our way, and their Solar Winds are expected to arrive on 8/18. Atm forecasts are quite varied on how impactful they’ll be, so we’ll see what the forecasts have to say on that tomorrow…

Solar Flares are staying in the B- and C-Class ranges, and should continue to do so for several more days, provided the 4 Sun Spots in the Sun-Earth Line and the 2 Sun Spots in their Farewell Volley positions maintain their current activity levels.
