7/5 Recap

Today was a nice break compared to yesterday – no Geomagnetic Storms, Solar Wind Speed back in the 400 km/sec range, Electron and Proton Saturation were calm.

Solar Flares were the only thing bothering us today, and there were plenty! Most of them were C Class Solar Flares, but there were plenty of M Class Solar Flares and most of them came from the Exiting Sun Spot that’s been loudly saying “good-bye” for the past few days. We’ve got a couple more days before it’s fully out of range…

NOAA’s not expecting the incoming CMEs to cause much fuss the next 2 days, and the Coronal Hole that’s jettisoning high speed Solar Winds at us got mainly filled with plasma since yesterday, so the Coronal Hole is smaller and there’s less chance for significant impacts from the CH HSS. NOAA’s expecting the next 3 days to be fairly calm.

Electron Saturation will likely cross its Alert Threshold in 3 days, Proton Saturation’s back to holding steady at Normal levels, so hopefully that will continue.
