It looks like the 7/27 CME missed us, according to the Solar Wind chart which says we held a steady ~280 km/sec Solar Wind Speed all day today and the fact our HP Index seldom reached HP = 1.0. NOAA’s still expecting the 7/30 CME to arrive any minute through 8/2 @ 3.00a CDT, and they’re providing a 35% chance HP = 5 (G1) Geomagnetic Storms in middle N. America, and a 50% chance HP = 6 (G2) Geomagnetic Storms in the northern U.S. states.

Solar Flares were quiet today, staying in the B- to C-Class range, but we’re still in an M Class Solar Flare Watch.

Electron Saturation barely rose above its Alert Threshold today and may continue to do that for the next 3 days, depending on the incoming CME.

Proton Saturation stayed below its Alert Threshold and should continue to do that, barring any significant M Class Solar Flares.

Had an interesting event overnight. Woke up about 3 am (eastern time) and when I tried to go back to sleep was hit by an overwhelming sense of despair and gloom. It came out of nowhere, nothing was on my mind, no issues lurking in the background. Just this terrible feeling of depression. Took some GABA and finally went back to sleep, but when I woke up found a notice from the Carrington app on my phone about “geomagnetic activity is at an extreme level” that came in at 3:02 am…
