Geomagnetic Storm Watch
Geomagnetic storms are possible today, June 13th, when a halo CME is expected to hit Earth’s magnetic field. NOAA forecasters are predicting a G2-class (Moderate) storm.
Yesterday, at 9:15 p.m. CEST, there was a significant filament eruption near the eastern edge of the sun. An elongated structure of cooler, denser solar plasma was unstable and thrown out of the solar atmosphere into space.
The geomagnetic field is expected to be at unsettled to major storm levels on day one (13 Jun), unsettled to minor storm levels on day two (14 Jun) and quiet to active levels on day three (15 Jun).
