6/15 Recap

It was a fairly quiet day today, except for Solar Wind Speed and Electron Saturation.

We had mainly B-Class with a few low C-Class Solar Flares today. Most of the Solar Flares were from incoming Sun Spots. It’ll be 2 days before we get a good look at one of them, and probably 4 days before we get a good look at the 2nd Sun Spot, which is interacting with the 1st Sun Spot. It’s possible these interacting Sun Spots will produce M Class Solar Flares when they get fully into view, but for now, NOAA expects we’ll continue with low-level Solar Flares.

Our HP Index was very calm today and is expected to stay mainly calm over the next 3 days.

Solar Wind Speed was trying to get below 400 km/sec today, but even with the dips, it still stayed around 460 km/sec most of the day. It should continue to drop for the next 2-3 days, but it might slightly increase on 6/19 as the new CH HSS settles in.

Electron Saturation is hovering right around its Alert Threshold 24 hs day now. The CME that’s incoming might drop Electron Saturation, but most reports aren’t expecting the CME Sideswipe to be very powerful, so chances are better the CME won’t impact Electron Saturation. Proton Saturation is steady at Normal levels.
