. Solar Activity’s starting to pick up as one of the Sun Spots we’ve been watching enters its Farewell Volley position and starts tossing M Class Solar Flares, and 2 more Sun Spots in the Sun-Earth Line keep tossing C Class Solar Flares with CMEs […]
We had a bit of jostling today with Solar Wind Speed and Electron Saturation being at uncomfortable levels. Solar Wind Speed dropped during the day, but NOAA’s expecting the incoming CME to bump them up again, before letting Solar Wind Speeds slide on 6/29, and […]
An impressive, Earth-directed CME was seen yesterday in coronagraph imagery which is slow-moving yet still may impact Earth on June 30. Impact times range from early on the 30th (NOAA SWPC) to midday (NASA M2M) to late in the evening (HUXt). The expected geomagnetic effects […]
For days, it was hidden. Now one of the most complex collections of sunspots on the Sun is finally rotating into Earth’s view… And it’s getting stronger. Over the next 72 hours, these rapidly changing regions will be staring directly at Earth, where the chances […]
It looks like the CME arrived around noon CDT today and we’re still waiting on the CH HSS. We’ve already exceeded 600 km/sec Solar Wind Speeds, and they’re still increasing. We’re likely to get into 700 km/sec overnight. I’m not sure how our Solar Wind […]
We have more C Class Solar Flares this morning since the new Sun Spot is rotating into view. . The bulk of the expected CME arrived around midnight last night. Connie Howell
Today was a quiet day across all measures we monitor! . NOAA’s expecting the incoming CH HSS and CME Sideswipe to change one of these measures tomorrow. Solar Wind Speed will rise – the UK’s Met Office is anticipating into the 500 km/sec range. While […]
EARTH’S MAGNETIC FIELD IS ABOUT TO BE PUT TO THE TEST A massive collection of coronal holes spanning more than 400,000 miles is now lined up with Earth. As high-speed solar wind streams away from the Sun, conditions are becoming favorable for geomagnetic storms around […]
